Help for women is an organisation that provides shelter, rehabilitation and education for abandoned, abused, rejected, neglected and uneducated woman. It is our desire to serve these women by providing resources to become healed and train them into vocation encouraging them to be self sustainable women, with impact in their community.
At Help for women we believe in the African proverb that states: “when you educate a women, you educate a nation.” The foundation and core values of this organization rests on Isaiah 61.
“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to preach
the good tidings to the poor; He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound”.
The desired out-come for all women who walk in to any of our programs are, to become emotionally and physically well, spiritually strong having obtained confidence, dignity, skills, education and the will-power to add to their society by being entrepreneurs or flourishing in an existing company.
This vision is sustained by founder Sandra Koomen who once was a broken, uneducated and disappeared woman, who had to provide for herself and child without prospects. Sandra’s life is a testimony of the goodness of God.
She lived undocumented in 4 countries before she moved to the Netherlands, after an encounter with God. Then her life started to stabilise. At age 29 Sandra started training as a hair hairstylist and opened her own hair salon. Through faith and the helping hand of God she has become a strong woman with a passion to actively help women rise from difficult circumstances.
In 2012 she received the vision which now developed into the foundation Help for Women. In 2021 Paul van Eijden joined the board of Directors. In 2022 Alecia Daniels joined as Board Secretary. Together we believe and are willing to be Gods instrument in being a blessing to Ghanaian woman. We all believe in the age old African Proverb:
When you educate a woman you educate a nation.
